Steps To Viewing A Webinar

Webinar Descriptions

Introduction

I currently offer three webinars.  The three webinars contain the core information I provided for 27 years (pre-Covid) in live workshops throughout the United States.

The focus of the current webinars is to enable adults who receive a disability benefit from the Social Security Administration to make informed choices regarding employment and attaining self-sufficiency.  Without this knowledge they often make poor choices, limit their earned income, and may wind-up with a significant overpayment (frequently $25,000+) owed to the Social Security Administration (the SSA).

The webinars are appropriate for anyone, You don’t need a college degree to understand the material in the webinars.  You simply have to listen, take notes, and then send me an email if you have questions regarding the content of the webinar you have reviewed.  People often say “I have a stupid question.”  My position is - there are no stupid questions. There is simply something you do not currently understand and my responsibility is to help you understand the material.

I am in the process of developing additional webinars to provide you with knowledge of how Social Security benefits programs operate. The webinars are the product of my 29 years of experience in: 1) presenting over 2,700 workshops to a vast array of audiences throughout the United States; 2) assisting individuals, family members and human service professionals in understanding and resolving personal benefit issues; and 3) my own continuing review of changes in the SSA regulations and operating procedures.

My resources for the webinars are 1) the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 20—Employees' Benefits, Chapter III - Social Security Administration, Parts 404 and 416; 2) the public version of SSA’s Program Operations Manual System (POMS) [this is SSA’s procedures manual]; 3) SSA notices published periodically in the Federal Register; and 4) my 29 years of experience in supporting individuals with a disability in resolving issues related to benefit programs provided by the Social Security Administration.

I charge a fee to view for the webinars, therefore federal law requires me to inform you of the following: 1) The webinars have not been endorsed by the Social Security Administration; and 2) The SSA provides free informational materials, and online training events.  You can access the SSA information, publications, and listings of previous online training events at www.ssa.gov and https://choosework.ssa.gov/.

Steps to viewing a webinar.

Please read each of the points below.  Contact me if you have a question regarding any of the points below.

1.  You do not need to pre-register to view a webinar.  The webinars are available for viewing any day of the week (including weekends), 24 hours a day.  Simply select the webinar you want to view, complete a registration form, pay the registration fee by credit card, and view the webinar.

2. The webinars are recorded. This enables you to focus on the presentation and not be distracted by another individual asking questions that are not relevant to the material being presented.

3.  Your purchase allows you to view the webinar TWO TIMES.  I would recommend during the first viewing you simply listen to the presentation and become familiar with Social Security Administration vocabulary. Take notes during the second viewing.

4.  The webinars can be viewed by an individual or a group, but only one device can used to access the webinar.  If more than one device accesses the webinar, it will count as your second viewing.

If the audience of a group is distributed in different locations, your agency’s network must have the capacity to simultaneously share the presentation. You cannot share the access information (URL and password) with individual attendees to enable them to directly access the webinar from their devices.  You cannot record the Powerpoint presentation for distribution or to view at a later date.

Contact me, if you want members of a group to individually access the webinar at their own convenience.

5.  When you select a webinar, you will register for the webinar and then you are automatically routed to PayPal to pay the fee for the webinar.  You are not required to have a Paypal account.  Paypal will process your payment then provide a receipt. Your credit card information is not provided to me.  Paypal will notify me when your purchase has been approved and provide me with your name and address.

Exit the registration process here, if you are not ready to view the webinar after paying the registration fee. Contact me for access information, the day prior to the date you want to view the webinar.

If you prefer not to use the Paypal process, contact me directly (610) 696-1551. I can process your payment using a different credit card processing tool.

The next screen provides three items: 1) a link to the handout that accompanies the presentation 2) the webinar URL; and 3) the current pass code to start the presentation.   I highly recommend you copy this information to your word processing app, you cannot go back to this screen if you exit the registration process.

To begin a webinar -

First - download and print the handout.  It is in a PDF format.

Second - Click of the presentation URL.  You will need to provide your name, email address, and the password.   The webinar will begin when this is completed

You have the ability to pause the presentation for a reasonable period of time.  Simply place your cursor on the slide and left click your mouse.  Repeat this process to resume the presentation.

6.   Each webinar has a separate password and the passwords change frequently.

7.  If the password changes, you will need to contact me by email or by phone to obtain the new password.  If you elect to purchase a webinar and view it at a later date, you will probably need a new password.  Your purchase allows two viewing of the webinar.  If you wait a few days to view the webinar a second time, you will probably need a new password.

The best way to contact me is to send an email the day prior to the day you want to view the webinar.  In the subject line of your email write “Need access to webinar xxx.”  You can try contacting me by phone.  If your call goes to voice mail, leave a message informing me of webinar you wish to view and your direct telephone number and extension (if applicable). I will return your call as soon as I’m available to access my computer.

2022 Webinar Descriptions

Webinar 101   The Basics of the Social Security Programs

Length: 89 minutes

The Social Security Administration is responsible for the management of two major benefit programs.  The two programs have separate purposes and serve different populations of people.

Webinar 101 starts from the beginning and provides the foundation to understanding the benefit programs available to individuals who have been determined by the Social Security Administration to be disabled or blind.  The webinar focuses on individuals from 18 years of age, up to, full retirement age.

It explains:

1) How the Social Security Administration defines "disability" for an adult;

2) What is the difference between the benefit programs Social Security administers;

3) How Social Security determines which benefit a person may receive;

4) Why some people qualify for more than one benefit program; and

5) Why enrollment in a benefit program may change to a different program.

Webinar 102   How Wage Affects Title II Benefits (SSDI, CDB, DWB) and Medicare

Length: 101 minutes

Title II of the Social Security Act, provides several different benefits to an insured worker and family members of an insured worker.  An insured worker may be entitled to a Social Security Disability Insurance benefit (SSDI) or a Retirement Insurance Benefit (RIB).

Family members of the insured worker may be entitled to a spousal retirement benefit; or a dependent benefit (under 18 years of age), or a Childhood Disability Benefit (CDB) if the son or daughter is 18 or older and determined to be disabled or blind; or a Disabled Widow(er)s Benefit (DWB); or the financially dependent parent of an insured worker.

This webinar focuses on who can receive a title II benefit (SSDI, CDB, and DWB) and why they are entitled to the benefit. It answers two important questions: 1) "How much can I earn?@ and 2) AWhat will happen to my benefit if I work?"

The webinar explains the four events that must occur for the beneficiary to terminate from SSDI, CDB, or DWB because of their countable earned income.  The four events are: 1) the completion of a Trial Work Period; 2) the completion of an Extended Period of Eligibility and Reentitlement Period; 3) when the SGA Cessation month occurs; and 4) when the Benefit Termination Month occurs.

The webinar also explains the Expedited Re‑instatement Period after Termination has occurred due to performing Substantial Gainful Activity.

If a disabled or blind Title II beneficiary is planning to work or is working, you must understand the four events to avoid potential large overpayments from occurring when the beneficiary has earned income

Length: 101 minutes

SSI is formally known as ASupplemental Security Income for the Aged, Blind and Disabled.@ It is Title XVI of the Social Security Act.

The webinar describes the adult requirements to qualify for SSI and then, what is required maintain eligibility for SSI and the associated Medicaid benefit. This webinar will answer the question: "How much can I earn and continue to be eligible for SSI and Medicaid?" (Hint: To remain eligible for SSI and Medicaid, the person=s annual earned income does not exceed a threshold of, at least, $33,000 throughout the 50 states. Each state has a different threshold amount, the highest is currently $82,847 in Alaska).

During this webinar the following will be explained:

1) Types of income that affect the SSI payment:

2) How the SSI benefit payment is determined;

3) The Section 1619(a) Special Payment provision;

4) Qualifications for Section 1619(b) status to protect Medicaid eligibility
